Accessibility statement

How this site was built to be usable by everyone, and how to tell us when it is not.

Murphy’s Billiards wants everyone to be able to book a table, shop and read about the venue. This site was built to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2, level AA.

What we do

  • Text and interface colours are checked against their backgrounds for contrast, and we do not use the brand colours in combinations that fail.
  • No status is shown by colour alone. Availability, stock and payment states each carry an icon, a label or a pattern as well — red and green together are the most common form of colour blindness, so colour is never the only signal.
  • Buttons and links you tap on a phone are at least 44 by 44 pixels. The site is meant to be used standing up in a dim room.
  • The whole site works with a keyboard, including the table booking grid. There is a “skip to main content” link on every page.
  • The booking grid has a list view that does everything the grid does, for screen readers and for small screens.
  • We respect your system setting for reduced motion.
  • Text can be zoomed without the layout breaking, and we never disable pinch-to-zoom.

Where we know we fall short

A description is now required before a photograph can be added to the gallery, so new pictures always carry one. A small number of older pictures, uploaded before that rule, may still be missing theirs — those are listed for staff to fix, and until they are, a screen reader will announce nothing for them.

Tell us about a problem

If something on this site is hard to use, please call the venue or use the contact form and say what you were trying to do. We treat access problems as faults and will tell you what we can do about it.
